James Warren 'Jim' Jones
Jim Jones was an American cult leader who founded the Peoples Temple, which started as a progressive church promoting racial integration and Christian socialism in Indianapolis. As public scrutiny grew regarding financial abuse and physical discipline, Jones moved his congregation to the remote jungle of Guyana. Cult paranoid led him to orchestrate the mass poisoning of his followers, including himself, in 1978.

David Koresh (Vernon Howell)

He ruled the Mount Carmel Center compound near Waco, Texas, teaching that he was the Lamb of God who alone could open the Seven Seals of the Book of Revelation. He died alongside 75 followers when the compound burned down during an FBI tear gas assault.
